Practice Radiograms
Learning how to originate radiograms can be exciting. Refining and maintaining the capability requires regular practice. Are you regularly sending radiograms? Where can you send them to keep the skill up?
There are several places you can go for good places to send radiograms. For destinations outside the area, RadiogramCQ maintains several lists for people who are interested in receiving traffic (requires registration). For recipients in-section, you can ask the Section Traffic Manager or other Section Leadership for recipients.
Finally, for local recipients (especially for training exercises), you can use the list below. Delivery via voicemail is permitted and considered received for these numbers. You can send a radiogram to these recipients at any time. If you would like to be added to this list, please contact the net manager or personnel officer.
What about the body of the radiogram?
For an emergency exercise, relevant text should be generated based on the current scenario. For example:
REQUESTING THREE 7R5 KW GENERATORS
EACH WITH 25 GALLONS FUEL
ASAP
For other exercises or for no particular occasion, consider a book excerpt, a short joke, a trivia question (expect a response), an unrelated combination of hard-to-spell words (good practice copying!), or a general purpose ARL Numbered Radiogram.
