Tonight's Training: The Functional Exercise!

Post date: Sep 8, 2016 9:00:48 PM

Central Ohio Traffic Net will hold its usual monthly training—second Thursday of the month—at Franklin County Emergency Management & Homeland Security, 5300 Strawberry Farms Blvd in northeast Columbus. We will begin gathering tonight at 6 p.m. and will get an exercise underway starting at 6:30 p.m. If you're unable to make it in person, please tune in to the COTN frequencies and be prepared to receive, relay, and deliver traffic.

In tonight's functional exercise, we'll have volunteers on-site playing the role of victims of an event requiring them to be relocated. COTN members on site will originate traffic for those victims, creating radiograms, and bringing them to a special session of COTN.

COTN members on frequency will then be directed to receive the traffic and to deliver it. The delivered traffic will be compared with the originated radiograms to test how well we are living up to our standard of providing word-for-word and letter-for-letter accuracy in the relay and delivery of traffic.

We look forward to your participation!
