August Activity Report
Post date: Sep 6, 2014 5:13:28 PM
August was a busy month for COTN. We held our normal meeting on each of the thirty-one days of the month at 19:15 as advertised, as well as an extra session held at the Columbus Hamfest. The Hamfest session was also held in simplex operation.
As the nearby chart shows August maintains our history of being productive, with checkins and traffic passed in particular holding steady. Our session minutes have moved upward as we've had more to discuss on frequency as we've been discussing training tips and some of the finer points of traffic handling.
W8SGT, the station at the Ohio Emergency Management Agency, has tapped COTN as its NTS liaison, improving the mutual support of the ARES and NTS.
As we look forward through the rest of the year, we have several priorities. First, we're looking to train more operators for handling traffic, acting as net control, and also section net liaison stations. We have several opportunities to participate in skill building and maintenance beyond the daily net. Watch for upcoming announcements for the 2014 Simulated Emergency Test (SET) and additional training opportunities. We'll discuss these in more detail at the in-person meeting on Saturday 13 September.
Looking forward to seeing you in person next week.
